Alleged rapist in court

JOANNE BRATTON
Bulletin Staff Writer

A Mountain Home man charged with kidnapping and attempted rape was arraigned Tuesday in court.

Bobby C. Anderson, 39, appeared in front of Judge Van Gearhart in Mountain Home District Court for arraignment.

Anderson is charged with kidnapping, criminal attempt to commit rape, criminal attempt to commit aggravated robbery, aggravated residential burglary and terroristic threatening, all felony charges.

On Sunday morning, Anderson allegedly broke into a house in Mountain Home with the intent to rape a female in the residence, according to the probable-cause affidavit signed by Mountain Home police investigator Edward Griffin.

The female resident woke up to let a cat outside, and when returning to her bedroom was confronted in the hallway by Anderson, who was nude, wearing a mask and holding a butcher knife, according to the affidavit. During the struggle, the woman recognized Anderson's voice as a man who worked for her husband, according to authorities.

One of the victim's young children came into the hallway during the struggle, and the victim was able to run outside and scream for help, according to the affidavit.

Anderson ran outside while carrying his clothes and ran from the scene, according to the affidavit.

Authorities arrested Anderson about an hour later at his residence in the 300 block of North Street, police said.

During an interview with police, Anderson told them he broke into the house about 30 minutes before the attack, according to the affidavit.

He also told police his plans were to rape the victim and get money from her, and he said he had a butcher knife in his hand during the attack and also had a rope in his possession, according to the affidavit.

Anderson's next court appearance is scheduled for May 8 in Baxter County Circuit Court.

He remains in the Baxter County jail with bail at $500,000.

I'm sorry that I missed everyone at the reunion. I was privy to pics (thanks to the great Helen) & everyone looks wonderful & well.

I'm also sorry that we have to share news such as this. It makes me appreciate & value, even more, the time I have with family & loved ones. Our relationships are very important. Time is fleeting.

I'm sure we'll all give pause, today. Be well, everyone, & take good care.

The United Colors of Mountain Home

Mountain Home High School was like the United Nations back in ‘87. We had students from Europe, Japan and Australia. We were like a great big “United Colors of Benetton" ad.

Here I am around Christmas time with Amanda Burkett of Australia, Melissa Evan's exchange student and Tracey Dunlop. After all these, I don't ever think I knew who Tracey's exchange family was ... I don't think they had a kid in high school. Weird.
